Bank of Ireland

The Bank of Ireland (Irish Banc na hÉireann) ISEQ: BKIR_pLSE: BKIRNYSE: IRE, officially known as the Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland is a commercial bank operation in Ireland, which is one of the 'Big Four' in both parts of the island.

Ulster Bank

is a large commercial bank, one of the Big Four in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Its main base is in Belfast in Northern Ireland and it maintains a large sector of the financial services in both parts of Ireland as well as having operations on the Isle of Man. The Bank is currently owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), the second largest financial institution in Europe and the sixth largest in the world by market capitalisation.

Allied Irish Bank

Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. (AIB),ISEQ: ALBK, LSE: ALBK, NYSE: AIB, FWB: AIB is a commercial bank based in Ireland not to be mistaken for Anglo Irish Bank. AIB is one of the so called Big Four commercial banks in Ireland.

National Irish Bank

National Irish Bank (NIB) is a commercial bank in the Republic of Ireland, one of the traditional Big Four. In December 2004, Danske Bank agreed to purchase National Irish Bank (and Northern Bank) from the National Australia Bank for GB£967m (approx €1400m).

Bank of Scotland Ireland

Ireland now has a Bank of Scotland which is incorporated within Ireland. The Governor and Company of the Bank of Scotland is a Scottishcommercial and clearing bank, operating throughout the world. With a history dating to the 17th century, it is the oldest surviving bank in what is now the United Kingdom, and is the only commercial institution created by the Parliament of Scotland to remain in existence. It was also the first bank in Europe to print its own banknotes, a function it still performs today.

Halifax

Halifax (until November 2006, Bank of Scotland (Ireland)) is a bank based in the Republic of Ireland, a subsidiary of the Bank of Scotland, which is a part of the HBOS Group.
